I've always taken Greek dancing seriously, because dance woven with culture has always been important to me. There is so much to learn and I love nothing more than spread the infectious passion I have for it to all our students at Figoura"

KYRIACOS SHIAMTANIS - Dance Assistant, Adult Division

Kyriacos is a qualified and registered dietitian having worked both in the NHS as Head of Nutrition and Dietetics, he is currently a university lecturer in nutrition and also works freelance. Kyriacos still finds the time in his busy schedule to pursue his passion for Greek dancing. He met Jack during their time spent together in a performing group back in 2001, where their mutual passion for dancing led them to true friendship. Kyri has performed both nationally and internationally and is no stranger to the Greek dancing circuit.  So passionate, that on his wedding day he dressed in traditional costume to dance.

Kyri now lends his dedicated assistance to Jack, and loves every moment of it. Kyri has a strong passion for his roots and loves Cypriot dances, and is particularly fond of Pontian dances too. Kyri's warm and friendly approach is a testament to the class ethos and students quickly warm to his assisting approach.

If all this wasnt enough, in 2014 Kyri began his part time Masters course in sports nutrition, and is working towards becoming a fully qualified sports nutritionist in 2016.

“When I offered to help Jack as an assistant, I knew right away that I would love the classes and learn more dances as we went along, but my experience with him has been a real eye-opener,  one you have to see and experience for yourself!"
