On Sunday 28th October, the Figoura School of Greek Dance performing group took to the stage at the Dance Around the World (DATW) festival to exhibit a collection of dances from Pontos for the general public.
The performance was very well received, with comments about the vast array of dances, techniques and beautiful and vibrant costumes of the dancers.
The 20 minute dance set was choreographed in a style that retains the traditional form of the dances. This was achieved through rigorous training and commitment of the dancers at the Figoura School of Greek Dance.
The dancers stood proudly representing the Pontian Greeks at the event.
The performance was followed by a 1 hour dance workshop encouraging and giving the chance for the general public to learn dances from Pontos as taught by our lead dance instructor.
We would like to thank everyone that came to support us on the day and for the continued support we receive that encourages us to continue to represent the Greek heritage in the UK.
