INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED

At Figoura, our classes are carefully designed to support dancers at different stages of their journey. We currently offer Beginner/General level and Intermediate/Advanced level classes, each with a structured approach that builds both confidence and depth of understanding.
Intermediate/Advanced Level Class
Our Intermediate/Advanced class is designed for more experienced dancers who already have a solid understanding of CORE dances and regional styles. Many students progress into this level from our Beginner/General level class, while others join with prior experience from their involvement with other dance groups, performing groups or simply the years of dancing as part of their local community.
At this level:
-
Classes typically focus on one or two regions per term, allowing for deeper exploration of style, technique, and musicality.
-
We build on existing knowledge, so CORE dances and basic motifs are generally assumed rather than re-taught (except where relevant to a specific regional style). eg assumed you know 'Kalamatianos' well enough to lead it for instance.
-
Dancers are introduced to more complex steps, variations, rhythms, and musical structures, while still revisiting foundational elements where needed.
We recognise that dancers may have stronger familiarity with certain regions than others, and this is fully embraced. The Intermediate/Advanced class provides an opportunity to both refine existing skills and expand into new areas of Greek dance.
