INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION
International Certification (CID)
In addition to our in-house Participation Certification, Figoura School of Greek Dance is proud to support students who wish to pursue a more formal, internationally recognised qualification.
We offer guidance towards certification through the International Dance Council (CID), a world-renowned organisation for dance education and recognition.
This pathway provides:

Opportunities for students seeking deeper engagement or future pathways in dance
Participation in the CID pathway is optional and available to students who wish to extend their learning beyond the Figoura programme.
International Dance Council Certification
As a member of the CID, the Figoura School of Greek Dance may recommend any student for this certification who has shown their commitment to Greek Folk dance and their valued contribution to the dance school through attendance, commitment and performance.
There are 10 levels of certification. Each level represents a minimum of 150 hours of instruction, rehearsal, and performance.
How the Levels Work

Instruction Requirements:
Each level is earned by completing 150 hours of Greek Folk Dance classes at the Figoura School of Greek Dance

Progression:
Students complete Level 1 first. After another 150 hours, they can progress to Level 2, and so forth, up to Level 10. Students will need to have gained a Participation Certificate with at least silver badge (for Level 1) and a Gold badge (for Level 2 and above).

Pace:
The time it takes to complete a level depends on your enrolment to Figoura's dance classes. For example, attending 4 hours a week will typically earn you a Level in a single academic year, while attending (more typically) 2 hours a week may take two years.

Certification:
Once a student reaches the required hours, your dance Instructor/Director submits a declaration to CID. CID then issues a formal parchment certificate, which is presented to the student either by your dance Instructor/Director or the President of the CID at the Dora Stratou Theatre in Athens creating a powerful and memorable milestone in your Greek dancing journey at The Figoura School of Greek Dance.

Upon completion, students are recognised as dance professionals internationally.
Note that Certification itself is free of charge for CID members.
