Service Description
Serra: From Atsiapat to Serra is a focused two-part workshop designed for experienced dancers who already have a good foundation in Pontic dance and are comfortable picking up movement and motifs at a quicker pace. Across the two sessions, we will explore the progression from Atsiapat into Serra, looking beyond the steps to develop the control, precision, connection and increasing intensity that give these dances their distinctive character. PART A: ATSIAPAT Friday 20 November | 8:00pm to 9:30pm We begin with Atsiapat, establishing the movement vocabulary, control, posture, rhythm and collective connection that provide the foundation for the progression into Serra. PART B: SERRA Friday 11 December | 8:00pm to 9:30pm Building on Part A, we move into the greater speed, intensity and physical demands of Serra, focusing on remaining precise, musical and connected as the dance develops. This is intended as one complete two-part workshop, with students attending both Part A and Part B. Level: Advanced / Experienced Previous experience of Pontic dance is expected. Venue: Danceworks, Mayfair 16 Balderton Street, London W1K 6TN Price: £40 Includes both 1.5-hour workshop sessions. Limited to just 10 places. This workshop is exclusive to students currently enrolled at Figoura School of Greek Dance. Places are deliberately limited to allow for a more focused learning experience, so early booking is strongly recommended. Learn the movement. Understand the transformation. Respect the tradition.
