Jack Iacovou is a member of the International Dance Council (CID) and has been immersed in Greek dance since the age of eight. Over the years, he has developed a deep understanding and extensive knowledge of Greek folk dance, rooted in both study and hands-on experience.

His passion has been sustained through years of teaching, training, and performance. Jack has performed both nationally and internationally, and he remains closely connected to the tradition by regularly visiting Greece. There, he engages with local dance groups, collaborates with fellow instructors, and continues his development through seminars in the UK and abroad.

Learning with Jack offers a truly distinctive experience. His ability to break down complex movements into clear, logical steps combined with his precise communication in both Greek and English makes his teaching style highly effective and accessible. His analytical mindset, strong sense of musicality, and deep appreciation for rhythm allow him to connect with students of all levels, helping them build both confidence and skill. Paired with his enthusiasm and energy, this creates a dynamic and inspiring learning environment that keeps students returning time and again.

Beyond dance, Jack is a dedicated husband and father who values spending quality time with his family. He is also passionate about endurance cycling, enjoys discussing road bikes, and plays squash. In his quieter moments, he finds joy in gardening - something he feels is rooted in his family’s agricultural heritage and childhood experiences working alongside his late father.

In 2026, Jack made the decision to step away from a nearly 30-year career in the telecommunications industry to fully pursue his passion for Greek dance and focus more on family life. He most recently worked as a Network Architect, supporting clients across public and enterprise sectors, and holds a First Class MEng (Hons) from University College London (UCL).

Jack's leadership combines creativity, strategic thinking, and practical execution. As the founder of Figoura, he has successfully built and developed the school through a clear vision, passion for Greek dance, and commitment to community building.

Drawing on his professional background in engineering, project management, and the delivery of complex technical projects, Jack brings strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills to the leadership of the school. He has a proven ability to turn ideas into reality, demonstrated through initiatives such as the Greek Folk Dance Festival and the ongoing development of new programmes and opportunities for students.

Known for his forward-thinking approach, collaborative style, and dedication to excellence, Jack continually seeks innovative ways to enhance the student experience while ensuring Figoura remains a leading centre for Greek dance education and cultural engagement.
